Women In Leadership - Executive Presence

Start 2017 on the right foot by enhancing your executive presence.  In the Harvard Business Review article, “Deconstructing Executive Presence,” the author John Beeson admits it is often difficult to pin down what executive presence entails.  He later explains, “it (executive presence) ultimately boils down to your ability to project mature self-confidence, a sense that you can take control of difficult, unpredictable situations; make tough decisions in a timely way and hold your own with other talented and strong-willed” individuals.   In a survey of CIOs, conducted by Gartner, it was second on the list of the top 20 leadership traits that make a difference.  No matter your role in your firm, executive presence can help you further your career and improve relationships – both professionally and personally.  We will review some of the most common pitfalls women face and discuss tools for us to improve our executive presence, including confidence, decisiveness, emotional intelligence,  and physical presence.
