This continuing education class provides an introduction to the world of Excess and Surplus (E&S) Lines Insurance. Participants will gain an understanding of what E&S insurance is, how it differs from the standard market, and the important role it plays in protecting risks that don’t fit traditional underwriting guidelines. The course will also explore the history and development of Lloyd’s, tracing its evolution in response to unique, high-risk, and emerging exposures. By the end of the session, attendees will have a solid foundation of the purpose, structure, and significance of E&S insurance in today’s marketplace.

Our esteemed speaker will be Amber Mock, Director, Personal Insurance.
Amber Mock is currently Burns & Wilcox-Personal Lines Underwriting Director. With almost 15 years of industry experience, Amber oversees operations for Personal Lines in St. Louis, Denver, and Kansas City, Missouri. Amber is best known for keeping an open mind and finding creative solutions when underwriting business, as well as teaching her staff to be creative underwriters. She is currently working towards a role as Assistant Managing Director while also immersing herself into Commercial Lines for a broader industry knowledge. Amber’s efforts have earned her Burns & Wilcox Distinguished Service Award as well as holding a place in the Million Dollar Club for 3 consecutive years.
Amber graduated from University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Administration and Management. She began her career in the insurance industry as a Claims Customer Service Associate with Farmers Insurance, before joining Burns & Wilcox in 2014. Amber is actively involved in the University of Kansas Alumni Organization, where she acts as a mentor to business students providing experiences such as mock interviews. Amber has also earned her API, AINS, and CPRIA designations through the institutes and PRMA.
