Business or Pleasure: How Small Business Risk Can Impact Personal Risk

Business or Pleasure? How Small Business Risk Can Impact Personal Risk

A New Jersey Chapter Panel Discussion featuring Todd Triano and Tabitha McManus

Successful individuals and families often own and operate small, for-profit businesses for various reasons. For some families, it may be their primary vocation, and for others, it may be a tax vehicle or passion project. It is common to see successful individuals and families who own and operate larger businesses and co-mingle assets between their business and personal life.

According to Cornell University Law School, the legal term Piercing the Corporate Veil refers to a situation in which courts put aside limited liability and hold a corporation’s shareholders or directors personally liable for the corporation's actions or debts. For risk management professionals who work with successful individuals and families, it can be challenging to identify these risks and secure the most appropriate solutions to protect both sides of their lives.

It often starts with asking the right questions, but do we know what those questions should be?
Do we have access to the best network of professionals, carriers, and solutions?

Join us for a panel discussion exploring case examples, common misconceptions, and how to identify and prepare for these situations to best serve our clients.

Panelists

Todd Triano, USI Personal Risk Regional Operations Leader Northeast
Tabitha McManus, Regional Select Practice Leader for NY Metro at USI
